If you are a parent, you know that the moment you first looked at you child it was undoubtedly the most amazing moment of your life. Now imagine that that moment would be forever tarnished by a doctor telling you that your perfect and beautiful child was born with Sickle Cell Anemia. Sickle Cell Anemia is a blood disorder that is a life long battle. It is usually found in early childhood and its victims have to suffer immensely with the pain that comes along with the disease.

Seed of Life is a wonderful Philanthropic Organization dedicated to educating the Canadian community about Sickle Cell Anemia and Poverty. They are bringing to light that Sickle Cell Disease can be reduced or even prevented through Genotype testing, a painless procedure that can save a child from years of anguish and pain. On May 16th the Seed of Life Organization hosted its annual “Hope Gala and Awards” to benefit people who are suffering from his awful disease.

This Gala, which was founded in 2005, theme this year was Education, “Supporting and bringing Hope to Sickle Cell Patients". If you are interested about learning more about The Seed of life Philanthropic Organization, or about Sickle Cell Anemia, visit their website at
