Jennifer Cortez comes from a long lineage of musical talent and natural performers. Her grandmother, Fabiola Pinto, from Quito, Ecuador, was a loved and admired performer, making regular appearances at events and on television, and conducting interviews on live radio. Along with her daughter – Cortez’s mother, Teresa Cortez – Fabiola made history when she released their much-anticipated duet album, "Cantares Ecuatorianos Duo: Cortez-Pinto."

Cortez's Father, Mario Cortez, was also musically gifted, playing electric, acoustic and bass guitar in a local band in Quito. Born in Toronto, Cortez and her siblings were exposed to the spirit of music at a very early age in their household. Cortez is now working full force to promote her music, performing live at Toronto venues, continuing to make her mark in the music industry while representing the Latinas of Toronto. Recently, Cortez performed live on-air with radio station AM 1610 – Toronto's Latin Station – to promote a public event within Toronto’s Latin community to raise money for the children and families of Haiti. During the event, Cortez shared her new single Everybody which can be found on her upcoming album Through the Rain.
