TORONTO, Ontario, Tuesday, February 23, 2010 -
Jennifer Cortez is pleased to announce the launch of her upcoming album, Through the Rain. The album, featuring a compilation of tracks by singer/songwriter, Jennifer Cortez, depicts the ups and downs of the Latin artist's life, and her triumph over adversity.

Cortez's upcoming album, Through the Rain, will be officially unveiled on March 26, 2010 at 9:00pm when Cortez takes the stage at Drool Lounge in Toronto’s famed Kensington Market neighbourhood. The album is a powerful and inspiring compilation of Latin, R&B, and house.
Cortez's music has already received significant praise and created a buzz within the Toronto urban and Latin music scenes with radio play on Toronto Hispanic radio station, AM 1610, and Toronto urban station, FLOW 93.5. Both stations played a new track from Through the Rain entitled The Latin Anthem (Himno Latino). The song also features internationally acclaimed Canadian artist and Juno Nominee, Arabesque.

“I have hopes to inspire, motivate and empower Latinas all over the world to follow their dreams and reach for the stars," says Cortez. “I’m so proud of this new album, and I can’t wait to share all the hard work we’ve put into it with all my fans and with people who may not already know about the fantastic Latin music scene that we have here in Toronto.”

In addition to the official album launch on March 26, 2010, Cortez will be performing during a live web broadcast on ThatChannel.com on March 19 at 12:00 NOON EST. She will also participate in Toronto Exclusive Magazine's TEMfest at the Smiling Buddha Bar in Toronto on March 28 at 7:30pm. TEMfest features over 70 of the hottest independent recording artists in a variety of genres, including pop, soul, folk, rock, reggae, and dance.

Cortez was chosen by TEMfest to be among several of the event’s artists to promote TEMfest through various radio spots. The spots will be aired on FLOW 93.5 throughout the month of March, and the event will also be featured on the Toronto Exclusive Magazine website in the weeks leading up to the event.

As singer/songwriter, Cortez refers to Through the Rain as an inside look into her diaries; in her music, Cortez bares her soul. Cortez hopes that by sharing her story, she can continue to raise awareness about the importance of Latin music, and to encourage support for the many Latin artists in the Toronto area.

Jennifer Cortez comes from a long lineage of musical talent and natural performers. Her grandmother, Fabiola Pinto, from Quito, Ecuador, was a loved and admired performer, making regular appearances at events and on television, and conducting interviews on live radio. Along with her daughter – Cortez’s mother, Teresa Cortez – Fabiola made history when she released their much-anticipated duet album, "Cantares Ecuatorianos Duo: Cortez-Pinto."

Cortez's Father, Mario Cortez, was also musically gifted, playing electric, acoustic and bass guitar in a local band in Quito. Born in Toronto, Cortez and her siblings were exposed to the spirit of music at a very early age in their household. Cortez is now working full force to promote her music, performing live at Toronto venues, continuing to make her mark in the music industry while representing the Latinas of Toronto. Recently, Cortez performed live on-air with radio station AM 1610 – Toronto's Latin Station – to promote a public event within Toronto’s Latin community to raise money for the children and families of Haiti. During the event, Cortez shared her new single Everybody which can be found on her upcoming album Through the Rain.
